Southern Stars is an event including many different forms of performing arts, such as singing, dancing, drama and band/orchestra/choir.
From the 23rd to the 24th of August, over 3000 students participated in the Southern Stars event. Multiple rehearsals, eager students and enthusiastic teachers is all part of the lead up to Southern Stars. This year, we were lucky enough to have Bella from 5/6W participating in the show as a member of Southern Stars Performing Company (SSPC), representing Coniston Public School. She took part in numerous performances over two days. “Although the lead up to Southern Stars, including numerous rehearsals were tiring, the end product was certainly all worth it. Seeing the joy on everyone’s faces and waiting in the wings to go on stage to dance was the most amazing moment of the shows. My favourite dance to perform in was ‘Revolting Children’ featuring SSPC primary, however I was in two other dances named ‘Saturday Sun’ and ‘Step in Time.’ My favourite dance to watch in the technical rehearsal was the high school SSPC’S dance ‘Rise’ which contained a large sheet being carried across the whole floor and dancing going on underneath it.”-Bella.
