Literary Lunch.
A selected few students from stage 3 attended a literacy luncheon with approximately 12 other schools. It was an incredible opportunity to be able to meet some amazing authors and participate in active workshops, refining our skills as future writers.
On the day students were met with creative and astonishing authors. Some of these included Nat Amoore, Jody Cauduro, Di Ellis and Karen Hendricks. They were cheerful and most of them loved to write for children. The most important thing is that they truly enjoyed having us and provided a very informative workshop.
Each school were immersed in 2 main activities that were both outrageously entertaining. The first one that Coniston Public School students’ attended was a little game for the chance to win a book published by Nat Amoore. It was called Secrets of a School Yard Millionaire. It was a true or false game and we had to try and guess facts that were true or false about her life. Auob had a shot and won it. He is currently reading the book and is said to be loving it.
The other activity that Coniston students took part in was when they were given a character and location and had to figure out and determine the why? And retell the story. It really did show how creative Coniston students’ are as well as the other attending schools.
All in all, it was a great opportunity for those who attended to improve their creativity, writing in general and many other components in writing. Students loved the workshop and certainly did learn a lot from it.
